Development of a Computational Model for Investigation of and Oscillating Water Column Device with a Savonius Turbine

The present work aims to develop a computational model investigating turbulent flows in problem that simulates an oscillating water column device (OWC) considering Savonius turbine the air duct region. Incompressible, two-dimensional, unsteady, and were considered for three different configurations: (1) free inserted long large channel verification/validation of model, (2) enclosure domain mimics OWC with constant velocity at its inlet, (3) same as Case 2 sinusoidal imposed inlet. A dynamic rotational mesh region was imposed. Time-averaged equations conservation mass balance momentum k–? Shear Stress Transport (SST) turbulence closure solved finite volume method. developed led promising results, predicting similar time–spatial-averaged power coefficients (CP¯) those obtained literature magnitudes tip speed ratio (0.75 ? ? 2.00). simulation increased CP¯ all studied values comparison (Case 1). imposition 3) performance 2).
